Hola!

Hola Familia y Amigos!

We don´t have the internet in our dorms yet and I am using an internet Cafe but it is expensive to come here so I just want to let everyone know I made it and so far I am having a great time!

I don´t have much time but here goes a little blurb....

Salamanca is breath taking. I feel like I am living on a movie set because the scenery is just...unreal. I will post plenty of pictures as soon as I can. The dorm is cozy and inviting and not to mention also beautiful. Each room has a balcony and I am on the 8th floor with a stunning view. The rooms where everyone sleeps are tiny but the bathrooms and the common rooms are spacious and comfortable.

The sun does not set until around 10 oclock during which people are usually eating dinner and the city is coming to life. Last night was the world cup and Spain won! It was absolutly crazy here! As an entire group we watched the game on a huge television screen along with all of Salamanca at the plaza de mayor which is the center of town. Everyone was decked out in Spain flags, painted faces, and red jerseys. People cheered all through the night and spirits are still high this morning.

It´s only day one..well..two and I am already having an amazing time!

It may be a few days until I can get on the internet or make any phone calls but I will post again as soon as I can!

HOLA!

I will be in Spain from June 28th-July 31st and this is where I will write about my experiences!

I will be staying at the University of Salamanca with 30 other students from Southern including a good friend of mine since high school named Chris. During my month in Spain I will also get to spend three days in Lisbon, Portugal!

http://www.usal.es/web-usal/Ingles/Universidad/visita/index.shtml here is a web site where you can take a virtual tour of the university. I am not exactly sure where I am staying yet.

I promise to post plenty of pictures during my trip!

A few of My Personal Goals for the Trip:
  • Become fluent in Spanish
  • Find inspiration to clear my writers block
  • Analyze and stay aware of the media
  • Try new cultural food
  • Meet new people
  • Explore the land and absorb the culture
  • Find Portuguese music
  • Stay healthy

I am excited! I am ready for the experience of a life time! To emmerse myself in another culture to learn, write, explore, and grow as a person!
